Job summary

Lonza is seeking an Associate Director, Process & Analytical Development (ADPD) to lead analytical and process development activities. Initially remote, with a future transition to an on-site U.S.

East‑Coast/Mid‑West center as the project scales. This full-time role requires strategic leadership, budget oversight, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver safe, compliant, and on-time manufacturing progress.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership in pharma, biotech, process/analytical development, or manufacturing.
• Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical/biotech environments.
• Experience with facility startups, technology transfer, validation programs, or large-scale capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, GMP, process development and commercialization activities.
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, MSAT, Automation, EH&S, Finance, HR).
• Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Process & Analytical Development team, fostering accountability, collaboration, safety and continuous improvement.
• Define the strategic direction of the ADPD organization through long-range planning and resource allocation.
• Drive readiness and capability development to support future manufacturing operations and growth.
• Contribute to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to align capabilities with demand.
• Ensure successful execution of development and manufacturing activities meeting safety, quality and budget requirements.
• Maintain ownership of operational budgets and resources for performance.
• Lead Lean maturity and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
• Lead strategic initiatives to support growth within ADPD.
