Job summary

Jax Spine and Pain Centers is seeking a Procedure Tech to assist physicians during interventional pain procedures. You will prepare rooms, equipment, and supplies; assist during procedures; monitor patient comfort, and ensure sterility throughout interventions.

Prior clinical experience and BLS are preferred, with strong attention to detail and teamwork valued. Responsibilities include coordinating pre-procedural clearances, documenting in the EHR, and maintaining infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic life support certification required.
  • Experience in a clinical, surgical, or pain management setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with sterile technique and procedural support.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and charting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients, room, equipment and supplies for interventional procedures.
  • Assist physician during procedures by passing medications and maintaining sterile field.
  • Operate and troubleshoot fluoroscopy and ultrasound under supervision.
  • Sterilize instruments and ensure infection control compliance.
  • Monitor vital signs and patient comfort pre- and post-procedure.
  • Document details in the patient’s EHR accurately.
  • Coordinate pre-procedural clearances and manage anticoagulant concerns.
  • Restock supplies and provide patient education before/after procedures.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of protocols and HIPAA compliance.

Job description

Jax Spine is currently looking for strong Procedure Tech to assist physicians during interventional pain procedures.

  • A procedure tech supports physicians in the preparation and execution of interventional procedures.
  • This role involves preparing equipment, assisting during procedures, monitoring patient comfort, ensuring sterile technique, coordination of pre-procedural clearances (e.g, cardiac, medical, anticoagulant), and maintaining procedural documentation.
  • The procedure tech plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and effective patient care in a clinical setting.
Qualifications
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent; BLS Certification; At least 1 year of experience in a clinical, surgical or pain management setting.
  • Preferred: Certification as a Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, or Radiologic Technologist; Associate degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural support.
  • Familiarity with pain management procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and patient safety.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a compassionate, patient-first approach.
  • Able to measure and record vital signs, manually and electronically.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
  • Able to read, analyze, interpret, and write medical records and documentation.
  • Able to record patient information, including a working knowledge of medical terminology.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients, procedure room, equipment and supplies for interventions (e.g., epidural injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, spinal cord stimulator trials, kyphoplasty's, etc.)
  • Assist physician during interventional procedures by passing medications, positioning patients, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Assist in the operation and troubleshooting of fluoroscopy and ultrasound machines under physician supervision.
  • Maintain and sterilize instruments and ensure compliance with infection control standards
  • Monitor patients pre- and post-procedure for vital signs and comfort.
  • Document procedure details accurately in the patient’s electronic health record (EHR).
  • Coordinate pre-procedural medical clearances, including contacting cardiologists or primary care providers for cardiac risk assessment and anticoagulant management.
  • Track and follow up on lab results, EKGs, and clearance documentation to ensure patient readiness for scheduled procedures.
  • Restock and organize procedure room supplies.
  • Support patient education before and after procedures.
Working Conditions
  • Clinical setting with exposure to bodily fluids and fluoroscopic radiation.
  • Standing for long periods; occasional lifting of patients or heavy equipment.
  • Wearing PPE including a lead apron, face mask, head cover, close toed shoes and gloves.
  • Schedule may include early mornings or evenings with advance notice.
Other Functions
  • Maintaining current CPR, First Aid and other certifications as required.
  • Adhering to HIPAA standards.
  • Maintaining Universal Precautions.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough knowledge of applicable internal and external protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Complying with all laws, regulatory guidelines, and health care policies. This includes, but is not limited to federal, state, and local laws, State Department of Health (ISDH), Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), The Joint Commission, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Jax Spine & Pain Centers policies and procedures.
  • Perform other logically associated duties that enhance position through continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees.
  • Competent in communication with patients, including current working knowledge of medications, interventions and procedures provided.
  • Competent in computer applications pertaining to position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
