Job summary

The Center for Pain is seeking a Procedure Room Technician to join our team. You will prepare patients, assist during pain management procedures, maintain equipment, monitor vital signs, document details, and ensure sterile conditions.

This role requires a high school diploma, good communication, empathy, basic computer skills, and BLS; ACLS preferred. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses and staff to deliver safe, efficient patient care and learn through ongoing education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience in medical/healthcare setting is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Patient preparation: Explain procedures and ensure patient comfort.
• Assist during procedures: Epidural injections, nerve blocks and trials.
• Technical support: Set up and maintain equipment for procedures.
• Monitor patients: Observe vital signs and respond to distress.
• Documentation: Record procedure details and observations.
• Sterilization and infection control: Maintain sterile environment.
• Patient education: Provide home care instructions and follow up.
• Collaboration: Work with physicians, nurses and staff.
• Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA and safety standards.
• Continuing education: Stay updated on pain management advances.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Preparation Prepare patients for pain management procedures by explaining the process answering questions and ensuring their comfort
• Assistance during Procedures Assist healthcare providers during pain management procedures including but not limited to epidural injections nerve blocks and spinal cord stimulator trials
• Technical Support Set up and maintain equipment necessary for pain management procedures ensuring everything is in proper working order
• Monitoring Patients Monitor patients throughout procedures observing vital signs and responding promptly to any signs of distress or complications
• Documentation Accurately document patient information procedure details and any observations during and after procedures
• Sterilization and Infection Control Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the procedure room following established protocols for infection control and sterilization
• Patient Education Provide post procedure instructions to patients including information on home care potential side effects and follow up appointments
• Collaboration Collaborate with other healthcare team members including physicians nurses and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care
• Compliance Adhere to all regulatory requirements including HIPAA regulations and safety standards to ensure patient confidentiality and safety
• Continuing Education Stay updated on the latest advancements in pain management procedures and technologies through continuing education and professional development activities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a medical or healthcare setting is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle patient inquiries and concerns with empathy
• Proficient in basic computer skills MS Office electronic health records etc
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and liftmove equipment as needed
• Basic Life Support BLS certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification preferred
