Job summary

The Center for Pain is seeking a dedicated Procedure Room Technician to join our clinical team. You will prepare patients for pain management procedures, assist during epidural injections and nerve blocks, and help ensure equipment is ready and safe.

You will monitor patients, document details, maintain sterile environments, provide post-procedure instructions, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to deliver compassionate, efficient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for pain management procedures and explain the process.
• Assist during procedures such as epidural injections, nerve blocks, and stimulator trials.
• Set up, calibrate, and maintain procedure room equipment.
• Monitor patients during procedures and respond to distress.
• Document patient information and procedure details accurately.
• Maintain a clean, sterile environment and follow infection control protocols.
• Provide post-procedure education and home-care instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff for safe, efficient care.
• Adhere to HIPAA and safety standards, pursuing ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for pain management procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.
• Assistance during Procedures: Assist healthcare providers during pain management procedures, including but not limited to epidural injections, nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulator trials.
• Technical Support: Set up and maintain equipment necessary for pain management procedures, ensuring everything is in proper working order.
• Monitoring Patients: Monitor patients throughout procedures, observing vital signs and responding promptly to any signs of distress or complications.
• Documentation: Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and any observations during and after procedures.
• Sterilization and Infection Control: Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the procedure room, following established protocols for infection control and sterilization.
• Patient Education: Provide post-procedure instructions to patients, including information on home care, potential side effects, and follow-up appointments.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
• Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA regulations and safety standards, to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
• Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest advancements in pain management procedures and technologies through continuing education and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a medical or healthcare setting is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle patient inquiries and concerns with empathy.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Office, electronic health records, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move equipment as needed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
