Job summary

The Hartford Probation Office in Vermont seeks a Probation and Parole Officer to coordinate program activities and directly supervise offenders, including contact with families and partners in the community. This role involves risk assessment, custody classification, and required investigations at both field and office settings.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field, with 3+ years in human services; a valid driver’s license is required and background

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or higher, in criminal justice, or a closely related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent or higher AND three (3) years or more experience in human services casework OR related fields.
• Note: Possession of a valid driver's license is required, and a criminal background check will be performed prior to hire. Certain convictions can be disqualifying.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating program activities in field and office settings.
• Direct supervision including contact with offender families, offenders, law enforcement, courts, and community partners.
• Administer risk instruments and make recommendations for custody classification, pre-sentence, and pre-parole investigations.
• Maintain records and prepare reports as directed.
