Job summary

Miami County Probation Department in Ohio is seeking a Probation Officer to supervise offenders placed on community control and monitor compliance using evidence-based practices. You will assess risk, develop case plans, and refer clients to treatment, housing, and employment resources.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field, excellent communication, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and the ability to work in office, jail, and field settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field required.
• Strong computer, typing, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License required.
• Experience with evidence-based practices and CBT programming preferred.
• Knowledge of risk/needs assessment and case planning preferred.
• Experience with motivational interviewing and CCPs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise offenders under community control and monitor compliance with court terms.
• Develop case plans and refer to community services including treatment and housing.
• Maintain accurate case records and draft Status Reports and other documents.
• Conduct home, employment, and collateral visits; testify in court when required.
• Collect samples and maintain professional responsibilities under policy.
