Job summary

Montgomery County in Ohio seeks an Intensive Probation Officer to join the Probation Services Department. You will supervise high-risk offenders, develop case plans, and coordinate referrals to court, mental health, and substance programs.

You will testify in court, maintain records, collect samples as required, and participate in trainings, while advancing ORAS risk assessments and LEADS certification. This role requires strong courtroom and field capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or related field and three years of probation officer experience.
• Ohio driver's license preferred for job-related functions.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and monitors offenders under intensive court supervision to ensure compliance with terms.
• Prepares case plans and referrals for assessment to court, mental health, substance programs.
• Testifies in court and attends revocation and status hearings to provide input.
• Processes offenders onto supervision and maintains address/employment records.
• Collects urine samples, conducts breathalyzer tests, and DNA buccal swabs where applicable.
• Conducts searches and seizures; makes arrests for term violations as needed.
• Compiles statistics on supervision, terminations, warrants, and transfers.
• Obtain ORAS risk assessment certification and LEADS competency.
• May train new officers and mentor staff; participate in trainings and committees.
