Job summary

Kean Miller LLP invites a Probate Litigation Paralegal to join our downtown Houston team. The role supports attorneys through all litigation phases, including discovery, depositions, and trials, with responsibilities spanning from case inception to closure.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience in complex estate planning, probate, guardianship, and trust matters, and strong Microsoft Office proficiency for document handling and dockets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in complex estate planning, probate, guardianship, and trust matters.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the litigation lifecycle: case management, document review, and trial experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related productivity tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation from case inception through discovery, resolution or trial, post-trial, and case closure.
• Prepare court filings and assemble exhibits.
• Draft and respond to discovery demands (interrogatories, requests to produce documents, etc.).
• Assist with preparation and support for depositions, hearings, and mediations.
• Maintain case dockets and calendars.
• Coordinate electronic discovery.
• Prepare probate pleadings, federal estate tax returns, trust/estate accountings, and funding calculations.
• Manage trust administration, probate, and conservatorships.
• File court documents, including e-filing.

Duties:

• Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation from case inception through discovery, resolution or trial, post-trial, and case closure
• Prepare court filings and assemble exhibits

Experience and Education Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s or associate degree
• Minimum of five years of prior experience in complex estate planning, probate, guardianship, and trust matters highly desired
• Comprehensive knowledge of all facets of the litigation lifecycle: case management, document review, and trial experience
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
