Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is seeking attorneys for the Clarke County Probate Court to provide advisory, transactional, and litigation-related legal services. The role supports judges, manages cases, prepares briefs, and conducts legal research.

Depending on qualifications, the position may be filled as Attorney Pending Bar Results, Associate Attorney I/II, or Senior Attorney. Minimum requirements include a Juris Doctorate and an active Georgia Bar membership.

Qualifications

• JD required; experience as a practicing attorney preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Experience as a law clerk, law assistant, or paralegal preferred.

Responsabilités

• Reviews all civil filings to determine appropriate courses of action for probate matters.
• Prepares cases for hearings and trials, drafts orders, and researches applicable law.
• Provides legal counsel and liaison to other county agencies and parties in pending litigation.
• Ensures matters are calendared and hearings scheduled; manages case status calendars and trials.
• Creates remote hearing invitations and hosts WebEx meetings for remote participation.
• Supervises law student externs and provides administrative support to Judges.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains knowledge of legal standards.
