Qualifications

  • 3+ years in California probate and trust administration.

  • Experience preparing probate petitions and related pleadings.

  • Discretion, confidentiality, and integrity in handling client data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal research platforms, document management, timekeeping, and billing software.

Responsibilities

  • Represent trustees, personal representatives, beneficiaries, and fiduciaries in probate matters.
  • Analyze wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents.
  • Advise clients on fiduciary duties, notices, accounting, claims, and tax issues.
  • Prepare and file probate pleadings, petitions, motions, declarations, and inventories.
  • Coordinate estate appraisals, asset collection, and distributions.
  • Attend court hearings, settlement conferences, and depositions as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, budgets, and billing records.

Responsibilities
  • Represent trustees, personal representatives, beneficiaries, and other fiduciaries in trust and probate matters
  • Analyze wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and other estate planning documents
  • Advise clients regarding fiduciary duties, notices, accounting, creditor claims, tax issues, distributions, and potential conflicts
  • Prepare and review probate pleadings, petitions, motions, declarations, accountings, inventories, and related court filings
  • Preparing and filing required notices;
  • Managing creditor claims;
  • Coordinating estate appraisals and asset collection;
  • Addressing real property and business interests;
  • Preparing petitions for instructions and other contested or uncontested relief; and
  • Completing final distributions and closing the estate
  • Administer revocable and irrevocable trusts, including funding, asset transfers, distributions, and trust termination
  • Identify and address estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and income tax considerations in coordination with tax professionals
  • Draft settlement agreements, releases, DISCLAIMERS, assignments, deeds, and other administration documents
  • Attend court hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and depositions as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, budgets, and billing records

Requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed with the California State Bar
  • 3+ years of experience handling California trust administration and probate matters.
  • Effective, clear, concise, and accurate communication, both oral and written, at an appropriate level to the situation and the client
  • Experience preparing probate petitions, trust administration documents, accounting, and related pleadings
  • Great ability to focus under pressure and the willingness to do what needs to be done
  • Demonstrate a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity in the handling of personal client information, including following the Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, timekeeping, legal research platforms, document-management systems, and billing software
