McDowell Center for Children in Dyersburg, TN, provides psychiatric services for adolescent males with mental health, behavioral, and substance use challenges. The Mental Health Technician role supports a 28-bed setting with a focus on safety, crisis intervention, and group education under a Shift Supervisor.

You will deliver direct resident care, teach coping skills, and assist with activities of daily living to promote therapeutic outcomes in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• CPR, de-escalation, and crisis intervention competency training required.

McDowell Center for Children has been providing psychiatric services to the West Tennessee area for more than 20 years. Located in Dyersburg, TN, our 28-bed facility provides a setting for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. McDowell offers unique and individualized programming for adolescent boys that sets us apart from many other treatment facilities, and our tenured leadership team includes a nursing department, licensed therapists, psychiatrists and counselors.

Mental Health Technician creates a safe environment for residents, saves lives, when necessary, provides hope, empowers residents, and teaches new tools for coping with residents. The Mental Health Technician provides direct resident care under the supervision of a Shift Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, education groups and activities of daily living.

Requirements

• High school graduate/GED required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• A working knowledge of behavioral health management practices is preferred.
• Complete and maintain competency training in CPR, HWC & verbal de-escalation. Aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training.
