Job summary

Avera St Luke’s Hospital in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Sonographer to join our team on a Day Shift, PRN basis. Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures with ARDMS certification, delivering diagnostic images and collaborating with radiologists.

Requires an associate degree or equivalent, ARDMS registration within 1 year if new graduate, and preferred vascular experience. The role includes patient care, documentation, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• ARDMS certification as Ultrasound Technologist is required or equivalent registration upon hire.
• New graduates must obtain initial ARDMS registry within 1 year of hire.
• Vascular experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produces accurate and efficient clinical diagnostic images as directed by providers and radiologists.
• Initiates intervention to radiologist or provider when test needs immediate attention.
• Reviews indications for tests and contacts provider for more information when needed.
• Provides data in a complete format for interpretation and makes hard copies as directed.
• Maintains department policies, safety, quality, and infection control.
• Assists with on-the-job training and orientation of staff and students.
• Supports records reconciliation and daily QC in collaboration with the team.
