Job summary

Scarlet Oaks is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist to operate ventilators, manage gas delivery, and monitor therapy outcomes with physicians’ orders. The role emphasizes hands-on patient care in a ventilator unit and requires strong communication to coordinate with the care team.

Responsibilities include ensuring treatment parameters, documenting charts, and assisting with breathing exercises while maintaining equipment safety and efficiency. PRN shifts include days and nights.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
• Ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature.
• Administer medicinal gases and aerosol drugs to patients under the orders of a physician.
• Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy through vital signs.
• Assist patients in performing breathing exercises.
• Observe and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results from therapy.
• Consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions.
• Maintain patients' charts with pertinent identification and therapy information.
• Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.
• Order repairs when needed.
• Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other healthcare personnel.
