Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Level IV NICU. You will work in a busy, family-centered NICU delivering high-quality care to ill neonates, with 24-hour neonatology services and advanced respiratory support.

This PRN position offers flexible shifts, a supportive team, and access to Cleveland Clinic benefits. RN eligibility, BSN/ADN, BLS and NRP within 1 year are required; neonatal experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN).
  • Current state RN licensure in Ohio.
  • Two years of recent related nursing experience.
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • NRP certification within one year of employment.
  • Internal applicants may be considered with review and approval.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in the NICU setting.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions to the team.
  • Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

The Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hillcrest Hospital is dedicated to delivering the highest quality, family-centered care to ill neonate and extremely low birth weight infants. This team provides 24‑hour neonatology services, evidence-based nursing practice and advanced respiratory care, such as high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide. As an RN, you serve as an essential support person in the NICU. In this role, you will interact directly with babies, their families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance the treatment experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience
  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
  • Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
  • Will consider military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of employment
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • NICU experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Light Work — Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
  • Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range
  • Minimum hourly: $43.00
  • Maximum hourly: $43.00
