Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital in Mentor, Ohio, is seeking a registered nurse to join our surgical services as a PRN caregiver. The position focuses on perioperative care for adult and pediatric patients, with scrub and circulating responsibilities in a busy operative setting.

The role requires RN licensure, BLS, and, for internal candidates, one year of related experience; external candidates need two years.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Internal applicants: one year of recent related clinical experience.
• External applicants: two years of recent related clinical experience.
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
• Performing circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ conditions and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work 2- 12hr shifts per week from 5:30am to 6:00pm, 7:00am to 7:30pm or 8:00am to 8:30pm. No weekends or holidays required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Internal applicants: one year of recent related clinical experience.
• External applicants: two years of recent related clinical experience.
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments required

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• BSN

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00

Maximum hourly: $43.00
