About the Description

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department. The PRN RN - ED has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for coordinating and directing patient care for a specific group of patients within the Department of Emergency Medicine. This role involves planning and providing professional critical care nursing, including assessments, medication administration, monitoring life support, performing treatments, and emergency resuscitation. The candidate must be qualified to care for patients of all ages.

Qualifications

Essential Functions

• Perform triage duties, identify emergent patients, and facilitate patient flow.
• Provide primary nursing care, functioning within a team throughout the patient’s stay.
• Identify arrhythmias, intervene per procedures, and communicate with physicians.
• Start IVs, administer medications and fluids, and assess responses.
• Perform CPR, function as code nurse, and manage critically ill transfers.
• Test monitoring equipment, ensure proper functioning, and know ED equipment.
• Follow safety precautions, infection control practices, and participate in procedures.
• Assess nursing care quality, document observations, and respond to patient needs.
• Notify families, participate in shift reports, and maintain standards of practice.
• Mentor new team members.
