Job Details

The PRN Pharmacist interprets physicians' prescriptions, compounds, and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines. Supervises the clinical activities of pharmacy technicians. Consults and counsels patients regarding medication use and potential interactions; handles complex problem resolution. This role is compliance-critical, with specific responsibilities to ensure continual adherence to all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Location:

• Lorain County Health & Dentistry, 1205 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052
• Erie County Health Department, 20 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio 44870

Hours:

Coverage for call outs and scheduled PTO, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications according to standards and legal requirements.
2. Perform medication reconciliation to ensure seamless patient care upon discharge.
3. Provide excellent customer service and clinical care.
4. Consult with patients on medication use, dosage, and interactions.
5. Review patient care plans for therapeutic appropriateness.
6. Achieve business goals for the ambulatory pharmacy, including marketing and promotions.
7. Manage pharmacy staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
8. Ensure compliance with regulatory policies and quality standards.
9. Handle prescription claims and financial reconciliation.
10. Maintain pricing structures and recommend operational improvements.
11. Verify prescriptions and guide pharmacy technicians.
12. Address patient inquiries and escalate issues as needed.
13. Provide organizational-level pharmacy consultations.
14. Oversee staff scheduling and patient profile management.
15. Participate in departmental meetings and training.
16. Collaborate on quality and service initiatives.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor of Science or PharmD from an accredited institution, with a valid, unrestricted pharmacist license. Experience in retail/ambulatory pharmacy preferred, with 1-3 years of related experience.
