Job summary

Opelousas General Health System is seeking skilled nursing staff to provide direct patient care across age groups using the nursing process. You will maintain patient records, ensure safety, and advocate for patients while collaborating with the care team.

Graduate nurses with state licensing and CPR are needed; ACLS/PALS are preferred. PRN opportunities exist, with a focus on high-quality, compassionate patient care in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with either an Associate or Bachelor degree.
• La State Board of Nursing license and CPR required; ACLS/PALS preferred.
• One year RN experience preferred.
• Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
• Provides direct patient care.
• Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills.
• Documents and maintains data on patient's record.
• Maintains a safe environment.
• Applies teaching/learning concepts to patient education.
• Provides for life support.
• Acts as a patient advocate.
• Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit and hospital team.

• Delegates and/or supervises care to team members and reviews completion.
• Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans.
