Texas Oncology is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to support Bastrop, Kyle, and San Marcos locations. Work 0 to 19 hours per week with a minimum three days per month availability. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm, with no weekends or major holidays.

The RN provides professional nursing care, collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, and adheres to compliance standards. Eligible levels include 1, 2, or Sr based on experience. Benefits and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

• RN license and current registration in the practicing state.
• 0–3 years nursing experience, preferably in oncology.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Oncology certification preferred for advanced levels.
• Five years nursing experience for Sr level.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care.
• Assess health status by interviewing patients and reviewing history.
• Provide teaching and psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Facilitate and support clinical operations and patient care.
• Manage medication refill requests and document in chart.
• Schedule consultations, tests, referrals and future appointments.
• Triage calls and document information in the chart.
• Coordinate communication between patient/family and team.
• Assist patients in locating community resources.
• Act as a resource to LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants.

Texas Oncology is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Bastrop, Kyle, and San Marcos locations. It is scheduled to work 0 to 19 hours per week and requires a minimum availability of three days per month. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-5pm with no weekends, call, or major holidays. This PRN position can be level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the PRN RN do?

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards, including specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, developmental, and age‑specific differences in the patient population. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient and family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
  • As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.

  • Act as a resource to LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants.

Qualifications

• Level 1
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • 0–3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements)
  • 3–5 years nursing experience.
  • Oncology certification preferred.
• Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements)
  • Five years nursing experience.
