Job summary

Wellstar is seeking a Radiology Technologist for a PRN position in Georgia. You will operate imaging equipment, ensure ALARA safety, and provide compassionate patient care within a collaborative care team.

Requirements include a high school diploma, completion of an accredited radiologic technology program, ARRT-R certification, and BLS. Prior experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT-R (Radiography) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging/radiographic equipment safely and competently, adjusting technique to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules; report equipment issues promptly.
• Obtain clinical history and verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam.
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit.
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable.
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat/correct as needed and release patients appropriately.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation in RIS/PACS; manage transfers/retrievals and prior exam retrievals as needed.
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain crash cart and life-support equipment as required.
• Organize daily workflow to meet timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow.
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, and elevate issues to supervisor.
