Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health is seeking a Radiology Technician to work with Providers in diagnosing and treating patients through diagnostic imaging. The role includes preparing patients and equipment, performing imaging tests, and maintaining radiology equipment, under supervision of the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.

The position requires a high school diploma and an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Radiologic Technology, with experience in direct patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Radiologic Technology.
• Experience in providing direct patient care; physician office setting preferred.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate and understand radiologic technology and equipment.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be adaptable to change.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current radiology practices.
• Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
• Ensure proper sterilization, maintaining radiographic equipment and reporting any equipment failures.
• Calibrate the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor.
• Monitor patients and ensure their safety during imaging procedures.
• Position patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images.
• Prepare and educate patients about the imaging procedure.
• Key commands and data into computer to document.
• Review patients’ chart for imaging procedure.
