Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Radiology Technician who collaborates with Providers to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. You will prepare patients and equipment, perform tests, and ensure image quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Radiologic Technology.
• Experience in providing direct patient care preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate and understand radiologic technology and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current radiology practices.
• Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
• Ensure proper sterilization, maintaining radiographic equipment and reporting any equipment failures.
• Calibrate the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor.
• Monitor patients and ensure their safety during imaging procedures.
• Position patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images.
• Prepare and educate patients about the imaging procedure.
• Key commands and data into computer to document.
• Review patients’ chart for imaging procedure.

Education And Work Experience

• High school diploma required;
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Radiologic Technology
• Experience in providing direct patient care. Physician office setting preferred
• Computer literacy
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills
• Good analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to operate and understand radiologic technology and equipment
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time
• Must be adaptable to change
