Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Houma, LA is seeking a PRN Radiation Therapist to support our radiation therapy services. You will administer daily radiotherapy treatments under supervision, ensuring accurate beam positioning and dose delivery while maintaining meticulous treatment records.

Responsibilities include RTP positioning, clinical instruction of new hires and students, and performing quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program in radiation therapy technology or suitable equivalent.
• ARRT eligible or current registry as RT(T).
• Licensed by the Louisiana Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.
• CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Administers daily radiotherapy treatments to patients in the assigned unit, efficiently and accurately.
• Maintains records of daily treatments and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs RTP positioning and planning activities.
• Participates in clinical instruction of newly hired therapists and students.
• Performs required quality assurance activities.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment with adherence to safety policies.

Accuracy in positioning the beam of radiation to correspond with the designated tumor volume and accurately delivering the prescribed dose are paramount job functions. Accurate data recording with respect to positioning and setup parameters during CT-Sim are essential for proper dosimetric calculations and high quality radiation therapy.FUNCTIONS:1. Administers daily radiotherapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit, accurately and efficiently, at a speed consistent with patient scheduling.2. Maintains records of daily treatments as required in assigned treatment area. Follows treatment policies and procedures. Proactively reviews patient's chart.3. RTP positioning and planning.4. Participates in the clinical instruction of newly hired radiation therapists, and radiation therapy students.5. Performs mandatory quality assurance activities.6. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
