Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and manage medication for ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health needs under collaborative practice.
• Provide family medicine support for patients and families as part of whole-person care.
• Assist providers with evaluations, vital signs, and examinations.
• Maintain electronic health records in Athena with accurate documentation.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Support medication administration and prescribing per DEA regs.
• Aid in intake, discharge planning, and client communication.
• Collaborate with therapists and other providers to coordinate care.

Overview

First Responder Therapy Solutions (FRTS) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented PRN Physician Assistant to join our therapy practice. We provide therapeutic counseling, life coaching, and medication management services. The ideal candidate is comfortable with—or eager to learn—medication management, including ADD/ADHD medications, and brings a solid foundation in family medicine. This role is a great opportunity to gain meaningful experience in a mental healthcare environment while collaborating with a supportive, multidisciplinary team focused on serving the first responder community and their loved ones.

Schedule

PRN, weekdays and weekends as needed. Flexible hours to fit your availability.

Duties

• Conduct patient assessments and manage medication for conditions including ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health needs, under a collaborative practice agreement
• Provide family medicine support for patients and their families as part of a whole-person care approach
• Assist healthcare providers with patient evaluations, vital sign collection, and physical examinations as needed
• Manage electronic health records in Athena, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient information
• Maintain strict HIPAA compliance across all patient interactions and documentation
• Support medication administration and prescribing practices in accordance with DEA regulations and practice protocols
• Aid in intake processes, discharge planning, and client communication to ensure seamless patient flow
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and other advanced practice providers, to coordinate patient care

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) license (or eligibility) in the state of Texas
• Comfortable with, or willing to learn, medication management including ADD/ADHD medications and psychiatric medications
• Background or interest in family medicine
• Strong foundation in medical terminology and patient care procedures
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, team-oriented approach to patient care
• New graduates welcome

Preferred

• Familiarity with advanced practice provider roles and collaborative practice agreements
• Experience or interest in working with first responders, military members, and their families
• Background in behavioral health, psychiatry, or trauma-informed care is a plus
