Job description

PRN Physical Therapist – Creighton Pediatric Therapy

Evaluates patients with known or suspected health conditions and performs therapeutic treatment procedures as indicated. Makes patient referrals to other health care agencies/disciplines as needed. Instructs patients and family members in individualized activity programs to maximize functional abilities. Completes timely documentation. Preference is given to candidates with experience in pediatric intensive care units and/or advanced care units in pediatrics, but this is not required. The employee must be available for weekend coverage at least once a month, along with some weekday coverage. The employee is also responsible for supporting the mission, goals, and vision of Creighton Pediatric Therapy.

Essential Functions:

  1. Evaluate and treat individuals with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities to assist with daily activities and promote independence.
  2. Utilize computer programs for administrative responsibilities related to clinical practice.
  3. Coordinate care within the healthcare team regarding patient treatment.

Education & Experience:

  • Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program is required.
  • Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
  • Proficiency in common physical therapy assessments, understanding of childhood development, and treatment procedures are essential.
  • Complete HIPAA and immunization requirements before patient care.
  • Obtain NPI number and complete insurance plan credentialing before independent patient care.
  • Complete background check and drug screening during pre-employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work efficiently at a fast pace, prioritize tasks, and respond to multiple requests.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Strong concentration, focus, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills in verbal, non-verbal, and written forms.
  • Ability to function under stress and handle interruptions efficiently.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in clinical education and student supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across therapy disciplines and coordinate care.
  • Proficient in using clinic documentation systems following training.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice Physical Therapy in Nebraska.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
