Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established plan of care.

1. Follow all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend changes to the supervising PT.
2. Instruct and assist patients with active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
3. Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician, and coordinate care with the healthcare team.
4. Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members within the scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements:

1. Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the state.
2. Current CPR certification.
3. Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to transportation.
