Qualifications

• Experience: Required: None
• Preferred Experience: 1 year experience in a healthcare clinical setting
• Education: Required: High school diploma or GED
• Preferred: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
• Certification: Required: BLS
• Preferred: Phlebotomy Certification or Medical Assistant Certification

Responsibilities

• Preparing patients before drawing blood
• Explaining blood draw procedures to patients
• Verifying patient information and labeling samples
• Updating patient information in the database
• Assisting nervous patients during draws
• Processing specimens for testing
• Preparing specimens for dispatch to reference lab
• Resolving unusual test orders by contacting physicians/labs
• Maintaining compliance with policies and keeping area tidy
