Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager, or Supervisor, the Phlebotomist I performs laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, and other duties as assigned, under the guidance of a licensed supervisor. The Phlebotomist I maintains professionalism, courtesy, and respect when interacting with patients, staff, and the public.

Travel to other sites may be required. Not all duties listed may be performed at every practice site.

• Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients via venipuncture or finger stick, following aseptic protocols and proper identification and labeling procedures.
• Monitor phone and voicemail messages as needed.
• Manage collection supply inventory and order supplies as necessary.
• Greet patients professionally using AIDET and positive patient experience tools.
• Perform specimen centrifugation, processing, and preparation for transportation and storage.
• Use computer skills to access patient/testing information accurately.
• Prepare patient demographic sheets and documentation for specimens.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National Phlebotomy Certification or eligibility to sit for certification preferred.
• Experience as a Phlebotomist or completion of a certified phlebotomy program with healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, with excellent communication skills preferred.

The pay range is $17.65 - $26.50 per hour, with actual pay based on experience, education, location, and other factors. Additional incentives may apply.
