Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is seeking a patient transport attendant to operate a Mercy patient transport van, assist with transfers, and ensure safe transport for non-ambulatory and ambulatory patients.

A current Class E or equivalent driver’s license and BLS certification are required. Responsibilities include daily van inspections, keeping the vehicle clean and fueled, and delivering excellent customer service while coordinating with dispatch via UHF radio.

Qualifications

• Competent with transfer and lift techniques and utilization of a gait belt for ambulatory patients
• Competent with disconnecting wall oxygen and transferring to portable oxygen with accurate liter setting for transport
• Competent with operating the wheelchair lift and securing system
• Good customer service skills
• Ability to communicate clearly via UHF radio with dispatch
• Ensure vehicle is kept clean and serviced appropriately
• Report all defects to manager

Responsibilities

• Operation of a Mercy patient transport van to pick up and deliver patients per guidelines
• Safely transfer non-ambulatory patients to and from wheelchairs and transport van
• Provide ambulation assistance for ambulatory patients
• Keep van clean and fueled; report deficiencies promptly
• Provide exceptional customer service in keeping with Mercy's mission and standards
