Unit: Cardiac Medical Step down (CMSU)

Shifts: PRN (on a per-needed basis) 7am-7pm, three 12-hour shifts per 6-week scheduling period (36 hours every 6 weeks, minimum)

Job Summary

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or healthcare professional. Responsibilities include sanitizing and cleaning patient rooms, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with basic needs like feeding and grooming.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Accurately document patient care activities.
• Participate in hand-offs and report pertinent information.
• Perform delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques.
• Encourage patient independence and personalize care based on interests and hobbies.

Education

None required.

Licensure/Certification

• BLS (Basic Life Support) preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care.
• Completion of a nursing aide training program, passing STNA or CNA certification, or relevant clinical nursing experience.

Experience

Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long-term care preferred but not required.
