Job summary

GMH Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, West Virginia seeks a patient care technician/ CNA to support licensed staff in direct and indirect patient care. You will monitor vitals, assist with hygiene and comfort, and help maintain a clean, safe environment in alignment with department procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Must meet one of the following: Nationally certified patient care technician; WVUM Patient Care Technician program; Current CNA certification issued by state where services are provided.

Responsibilities

• Obser ves and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to RN.
• Assist RN with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs, assist in personal hygiene and patient comfort measures; record intake and outputs.
• Assist in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN.
• Assist department with administrative tasks.
• Answer patient call bell and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
