Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital in Ohio is seeking a Patient Care Nurse Assistant for the Level III Postpartum/Nursery unit. This PRN position supports the care team, helping mothers and newborns and contributing to a warm, healing environment.

Shifts run 7:00PM–7:30AM or 11:00PM–7:00AM, with possible weekends and holidays. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and BLS; nursing students may qualify, and STNA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross, or obtain during hire.
• Nursing students must have BLS upon hire.
• STNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs and activities of daily living.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross)

Nursing students: BLS required upon hire

STNA Certification preferred

This department houses private-bed rooms and sleeping arrangements for the comfort of mothers, their newborn(s) and their loved ones. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant on the Postpartum team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients as they recover from birth. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00PM - 7:30AM or 11:00PM - 7:00AM, which may include weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification

Physical Requirements

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $20.75

Maximum hourly: $20.75
