Job summary

Swisher Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a PRN Patient Account Representative (PAR) in the business office. The PAR handles day‑to‑day processing of claims, collects payments, bills, and resolves questions about patient accounts.

Under the CFO and Business Office Supervisor, the PAR acts as the primary contact for patients/guarantors, communicates with insurance companies, and assists with payment arrangements while adhering to HIPAA rules and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience with hospital or physician medical billing and follow up preferred.
• Clerical / billing experience.
• Understanding of the (medical) revenue cycle.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

Swisher Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a PRN Patient Account Representative (PAR) in the business office.

Under the supervision of the CFO and Business Office Supervisor the PAR plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the business office. The primary function of this job is the day-to-day processing of claims, collecting payments, billing, and resolving questions/problems about patient accounts. The PAR is the primary source of information for patients/guarantors who call with questions about a bill and/or to make payments. The PAR contacts insurance companies regarding claims, updates account information, and provides basic administrative tasks on accounts. Additionally, they may call patients who are delinquent in payment by mail, and/or by telephone and assist with payment arrangements. The position may be assigned other duties as necessary and appropriate to facilitate the needs of the business office or hospital.
