Job summary

A surgical center in Rocky Hill, CT, is seeking a Per Diem Operating Room Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate will possess an active CT RN license and have at least 2 years of OR experience, ideally in an ambulatory surgery center with a focus on ophthalmic procedures. Responsibilities include providing expert nursing care during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, and working collaboratively with the medical team. Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years OR experience; ambulatory surgery center experience preferred, ophthalmic preferred.
• BLS and ACLS Certifications required.
• Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of an OR RN.
• Able to communicate effectively, and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center
• Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of an OR RN
• A strong knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations
• Must have an aptitude for understanding, use of, and troubleshooting machines and equipment.
• Experience with Opthalmic procedures a plus
• Ability to scrub cases a plus

Position Summary

The Operating Room RN provides expert professional nursing care for the patient during the OR course. Special Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Standing or walking most of the day. Sufficient mobility and strength to move throughout department and lift heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• May be exposed to blood, sharp objects, and infectious diseases
• May be required to wear personal protection equipment for lengthy periods of time.
