Description

Occupational Therapist (OT)

Job Summary: An Occupational Therapist (OT) administers occupational therapy to patients in their homes, following physician orders and care plans under supervision.

Qualifications:
  1. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program or certified by passing the National Certification exam.
  2. Eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  3. Licensed in the practicing state(s), if required.
  4. Preferred: Two (2) years of experience.
Responsibilities:
  1. Improve or minimize residual physical disabilities.
  2. Assist patients in returning to productive living within their capabilities.
  3. Participate in patient care planning with home care team.
  4. Provide prescribed occupational therapy and supervise personnel as needed.
  5. Conduct initial evaluations and history-taking.
  6. Perform skilled procedures and consult with physicians about treatment changes.
  7. Write progress reports and instruct patients and families on home programs.
  8. Complete initial evaluations, treatment plans, and periodic reports for physician approval and patient discharge.
  9. Present in-service training to staff and participate in quality activities.
Working Environment:

Indoor work in agency offices and patient homes, with travel involved.

  • Supervised by: Director of Clinical Services/Nursing Supervisor
  • Supervises: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Home Health Aide

  • Physical activity participation
  • Extended standing and involvement in physical tasks
  • Moderate lifting and frequent bending
