General Summary Statement

The CRNP is responsible for applying advanced nurse practice skills for patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures or percutaneous intervention in the Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab. This includes pre and post orders. They are also responsible for rounding and discharging post PCI patients, which could be the same day or the next day. The CRNP is also responsible for performing Stress Tests. The position requires expert communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health team. A strong knowledge base in Cardiology, including reading EKGs and managing all patients in the Cardiac population, is essential.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Complete pre-cath/pre-admission workups for patients scheduled for procedures in the Cath Lab, including outpatients and inpatients. Review patient records, perform patient history and physical exams, order pertinent labs and diagnostics, and evaluate patients pre- and post-procedure. Document findings meticulously and collaborate with the Cardiology team.
  2. Evaluate and document patient responses to interventions; modify care plans to optimize outcomes.
  3. Initiate referrals to physicians and other healthcare providers as needed.
  4. Provide ongoing counseling and education to patients and families about disease processes, medications, risk factors, and follow-up care. Communicate effectively with team members and patients.
  5. Adhere to standards for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and post PCI care, and implement discharge plans to ensure effective care transition and prevent readmissions.
  6. Schedule office visits for interventional patients before discharge, and provide education to healthcare staff.
  7. Respond to emergencies in inpatient and outpatient settings, working with rapid response and code teams as necessary.
  8. Support accreditation standards and certifications related to cardiac care and nursing excellence.
Education, Training, and Experience

Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing practice in Cardiology or Critical Care and at least 1 year of advanced practice experience.

Licensure/Certification
  • Licensed as a registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Licensed as an Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania.
  • Current CRNP prescriptive authority in Pennsylvania.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
