This PRN position supports a dynamic radiology team in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging. The candidate must hold NMTCB certification, be AMA radiography-educated, and maintain CPR and state licensure as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent.
  • NMTCB certification in good standing.
  • AMA approved school of radiography graduate.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state.
  • Imaging specialty certification recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients before exams and verify identity per procedure.
  • Explain procedures and position patients for Nuclear Medicine imaging.
  • Perform Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals per NRC regulations.
  • Maintain patient records in RIS and ensure safety compliance.
  • Train new team members as needed.

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. We are challenging the status quo by shining light on radiology and making it a critical first step in diagnosis and proper treatment. Come join us and shine brighter together! As a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will beresponsible for performing patient imaging scanning procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation & preparing and administering radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals, to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes, within professional standards. This position is per diem, working shifts8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screen patients before exams for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure the correct patient and corresponding procedure
  • Explain and prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, and positioning patients so that parts of the body can be appropriately scanned
  • Perform routine and advanced Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures on designated portions of the patient’s body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeat scans, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
  • Assess, prepare, record and administer radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and departmental policies
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and maintain a safe work environment, as an integral part of the quality of patient care services
  • Adjust Nuclear Medicine scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
  • Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers, other team members, and peers
  • Follows physicians’ orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers
  • Accurately maintain patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and teammates
  • Maintain the American Radiology College (ACR) toolkit and accreditation requirements
  • Maintain all equipment in good working order; clean and disinfects equipment after each use
  • Ensure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines at all times
  • Perform and record daily quality control procedures, on specified equipment, to ensure correct and accurate operation
  • Perform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Medicine Regulatory Commission
  • Immediately reports contamination to the Radiation Safety Officer
  • Assist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
  • Monitor medical supply inventory and request supplies as necessary
  • Assist with the training of new team members, and function as a resource and technical expert, as applicable

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology; may consider an associate’s degree with applicable experience.
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification, in good standing
  • Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Must have sufficient training and experience to competently perform Nuclear Medicine procedures independently
  • Certification in imaging specialty

Preferred:

  • Registered/licensed in PET and/or PET/CT
