Job summary

SSM Health is seeking a part-time polysomnographer for the Sleep Lab at MO-SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles. This PRN night-shift role involves preparing patients and equipment, performing sleep studies, and monitoring patients throughout testing.

Responsibilities include applying monitoring devices, scoring and reporting results, and ensuring equipment readiness. A High School Diploma or GED plus BLS, RPSGT or RST certifications are required; prior experience is not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent years of experience.
  • Certifications required: BLS HealthCare Provider (AHA), BRPT RPSGT or ABSM RST.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient and equipment for ordered testing.
  • Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and explain testing procedures.
  • Performs and documents testing; monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary.
  • Applies monitoring devices (EEG, EKG, EMG, EOG, airflow, respiratory effort, oximetry) and records calibrations.
  • Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information; scores, interprets and reports sleep study results.
  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment; determines repairs/replacements.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
BLS HCP - American Heart Association
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - BRPT
Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) - ABSM
