Job summary

Wellstar MCG in Georgia seeks a compassionate Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our NICU team on a PRN basis. You will provide direct care to neonates, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support families while contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

The role requires an MSN with neonatal focus, Georgia NNP licensure eligibility, and NNP certification, with 2+ years in NICU experience. PRN shifts include weekends and nights in a Level IV NICU.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Neonatal Nursing or related specialty.
  • Current licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia or eligibility to obtain Georgia licensure.
  • Board Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or related neonatal care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, high-quality care to neonates in the NICU, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill newborns and preterm infants.
  • Work closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Assist in neonatal procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, lumbar punctures, and other NICU-related procedures, as needed.
  • Conduct patient rounds, including progress notes, assessments, and care plans for neonates in the NICU, ensuring timely and accurate documentation in the EMR.
  • Provide education and support to families of neonates, addressing concerns and providing guidance on infant care, development, and health issues.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical protocols and evidence-based practices to promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide coverage for scheduled PRN shifts, including weekends, holidays, nights, and urgent staffing needs as available and agreed upon.
