Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist PRN to join the laboratory team. You will apply general lab policies, perform competency testing, and assist with instrument troubleshooting while maintaining quality control records.

The role requires MT certification eligibility or registry, a general laboratory science degree, and the ability to train new staff. This is a hospital-based PRN position offering comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related science required; associate’s degree with MT certification accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s
• MT registry within 6 months of eligibility or hire; continuing education to maintain registry/licensure required
• Graduate of accredited School of Clinical Laboratory Science

Responsibilities

• Adhere to lab policies and regulatory guidelines
• Assess situations and act independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate competency in designated lab sections and perform proficiency testing
• Train new employees and students in lab policies/procedures
• Maintain quality control and document corrective actions
• Conduct preventative maintenance and safety checks on equipment
• Provide patient-oriented communication across ages and populations
