Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Medical Technologist to join our team supporting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Centers locations in Nachitoches, Alexandria, Minden and Shreveport, Louisiana. This PRN/floater position offers flexible hours and the chance to impact patient care.

In this role you will perform routine and complex testing, monitor instrumentation, and ensure accurate reporting while maintaining high quality and safety standards in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Louisiana State Medical Technologist License.
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
