Job summary

Millennium Physician Group is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT) to perform diagnostic testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and related areas at 13813 Metro Pkwy, Fort Myers, FL. You will review specimen quality, test orders, QC results, and instrument outputs, resolving issues within CLIA guidelines.

The role requires an MT/MLS with ASCP certification (or equivalent), a biology-related degree, and 2+ years of CLIA‑regulated lab experience.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, biological science, or related field required; 4-6 years of clinical laboratory testing experience preferred.
• MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification required, or equivalent board certification through AMT or NCA.
• 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience in a CLIA-regulated setting with demonstrated proficiency across multiple testing disciplines.
• Experience with laboratory information systems, QC management tools, and CAP/CLIA/COLA compliance documentation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently resolve technical issues in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Effective communication skills for reporting critical values and collaborating with clinical staff and laboratory management.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing across assigned laboratory areas in accordance with approved procedures and quality standards.
• Review specimen acceptability, test orders, quality control results, and instrument outputs before releasing or escalating results.
• Troubleshoot moderately complex testing, specimen, or equipment issues within established laboratory protocols.
• Maintain laboratory instruments, reagents, supplies, and documentation to support reliable testing operations.
• Support proficiency testing, quality control monitoring, and corrective action documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to laboratory staff on specimen handling, testing procedures, and workflow practices.
• Communicate abnormal workflow conditions, testing delays, or result concerns to appropriate laboratory and clinical partners.
