Job summary

Responsibilities include analyzing specimens, maintaining instrumentation, quality assurance, phlebotomy as needed, and mentoring staff and students while adhering to CLIA, safety, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology from an accredited institution.
• High School Diploma.
• MLS certification within 180 days of hire (eligible).

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results timely.
• Calibrates, maintains, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation; documents accordingly.
• Completes continuing education and submits documentation.
• Adheres to regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards.
• Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees and residents as applicable.
• Maintains inventory; prepares, labels and stores reagents and specimens.
• Participates in QA and quality improvement activities.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable.
• Reviews and correlates results with patient condition and initiates corrective action when indicated.
