Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa seeks a Medical Assistant to support exams and procedures, manage patient flow, and assist with clinical tasks in our outpatient setting.

Ideal candidates will have prior outpatient MA experience and phlebotomy skills. Responsibilities include vital signs, patient screening, room preparation, and aseptic technique; CMA certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, required.
• BLS, required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant Program
• CMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire
• 1 year of outpatient MA experience
• CMA certification within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with ambulation and movement to/from exam table or wheelchair using proper body mechanics.
• Performs initial patient screening after ID, including vital signs and medical history.
• Maintains aseptic technique and universal precautions during clinical duties.
• Supports provider during clinic by handling phone calls and faxes.
• Recognizes emergencies and provides first aid/CPR when needed.
