Job summary

South Port Square, a Life Care Services community in Port Charlotte, FL, is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) per diem/PRN for 6AM-6PM and 6PM-6AM shifts. The LPN administers medications, treatments, and documents care while coordinating with the care team and responding to emergencies.

Qualified candidates hold an active Florida LPN license, have at least 6 months of nursing experience (geriatrics preferred), and can communicate clearly with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• LPN license in good standing with the State of Florida.
• Minimum 6 months of nursing experience; geriatric care preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and visitors.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and treatments accurately and timely.
• Maintains documentation of medications and care rendered.
• Assists in direct resident care as needed and participates in admissions/discharges.
• Responds to resident calls and coordinates with physicians; communicates changes to family.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation, and emergency calls as indicated.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Licensed Practical Nurse:

• Administers medications.
• Administers treatments, including, but not limited to dressings, catheterization, suctioning, oxygen, etc.
• Assists in direct resident care as necessary.
• Maintains accurate documentation of medication administered and care rendered.
• Assists in admission and discharge procedures.
• Responds to the resident emergency call system as indicated.
• Makes rounds with physicians and transcribes orders.
• Keeps physicians and family aware of change in resident's condition.
• Maintains the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each patient.
• Assures continuity of services and care.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

• LPN currently licensed by the State of Florida in good standing.
• At least 6 months nursing experience. Geriatric involvement preferable.
• Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
• Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Can pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
