Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes measuring and documenting vital signs, identifying patient concerns, and assisting with patient movement to support comfort and medical needs.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate patience, empathy and strong communication, with the ability to interact effectively with the Nurse Manager and Care Team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patient with daily needs (hygiene, restroom, grooming).
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition.
• Assist nursing staff in basic treatments.
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies.
• Assist patients with issues or needs and provide emotional support.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor.
• Empty drains, ostomies, Foley bags.
• Perform blood sugar checks.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by department leader.
