Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a PRN Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide as-needed evaluations and treatments in a hospital setting. You will deliver patient-centered care per orders, develop plans, and support communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs under clinical protocols and supervision.

The role offers variable shifts including on-call coverage; strong collaboration with the care team and adherence to safety and quality standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of speech-language pathology principles including evaluation and treatment of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
• Ability to perform comprehensive evaluations and develop appropriate treatment plans within scope of practice.
• Adaptability to variable schedules and PRN operational demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform speech-language pathology evaluations for patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in accordance with provider orders and clinical protocols.
• Perform swallowing assessments and provide recommendations to support safe oral intake.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions using appropriate techniques and modalities within scope of practice.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response and patient needs.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to support patient outcomes.
• Provide patient and caregiver education related to communication strategies and home exercise programs.
• Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Prioritize patient assignments based on clinical needs and operational workflow.
• Apply evidence-based practices in the delivery of care.
• Comply with regulatory, safety, infection control, and quality standards.
