Job summary

Cardinal Health's Southeast facility in Victoria, TX is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for as-needed coverage. You will assist pharmacists with filling prescription orders, prepare medications for dispensing, and enter patient data into the pharmacy information system.

You will restock shelves, manage inventory, communicate professionally with patients and clinicians, and ensure compliance with state laws, certifications, and Cardinal Health policies while working under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Licensed pharmacy technician in Texas or ability to obtain licensure.
  • IV certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • PTCB certification highly preferred.
  • In-patient/hospital experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to use technology such as computers, smartphones and tablets.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for long periods.

Cardinal Health manages the pharmacies at PAM Specialty Hospitals of Victoria we are currently recruiting for a PRN Pharmacy Technician for as needed coverage to work for our Southeast location, but should expect to also help with additional coverage at our other facilities in Victoria.

Hours of the facility are Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30PM.

Our Pharmacy Technicians demonstrate working knowledge of the policies and procedures regarding procurement, storage, preparation and delivery of pharmaceuticals in hospitals and health system settings. The successful candidate will process physician orders for review by a pharmacist and pick and prepare medications or supplies under pharmacist review. They will also restock supplies and medications, deliver supplies and medications, procure supplies and medications following standard purchasing guidelines and provide feedback on the stock level and on inventory control and delivery processes. Our Pharmacy Technicians are also skilled in own work area within an analytical/scientific method or operational process area. They will also expand skills and techniques in one skill area/process/method and maintain appropriate licenses/training/certifications, as needed. The successful candidate will apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned tasks within own area and work within established SOPs and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines while working with a moderate degree of supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Assists pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Prepares medication for dispensing, packaging and shipment.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out of date items from the inventory.
  • Enters medical supply orders in pharmacy system.
  • Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in an amicable and professional manner.
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system.
  • Maintains knowledge of and abides by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift.
  • Vendor Credentialing may be required.

Anticipated hourly range: $18.10 per hour - $25.40 per hour. Bonus eligible: No Benefits:

The hourly range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
