Cardinal Health, Inc. in Hammond, LA is seeking a PRN as-needed Pharmacy Technician to support an LTAC facility. The role supports the pharmacist with dispensing, data entry, and medication preparation, with potential for additional hours at the Covington, LA site.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Pharmacy Technician license. Prior hospital pharmacy experience and strong communication skills are preferred; team collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system.
• Assists the pharmacist in dispensing prescriptions as allowed by state boards.
• Prepares medications for dispensing, packaging and shipment.
• Enters medical supply orders into the pharmacy system.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
• Takes inventory, places orders, stocks shelves and removes outdated items from inventory.
• Communicates with patients, clinics, caregivers, and physicians in a professional manner.

This position is a PRN as needed pharmacy technician position. This position is located in Hammond, LA at an LTAC Pharmacy managed by Cardinal Health.Pharmacy Hours are Monday - Friday 8a-4:30pm. There may be opportunity for more hours at the Covington, LA facility as well.

Responsibilities

• Inputs patient data and prescription information into pharmacy information management system
• Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription orders, as permitted by the State Boards of Pharmacy
• Prepares medications for dispensing, packaging and shipment.
• Enters medical supply orders in pharmacy system
• Maintains knowledge of and abides by applicable pharmacy laws and regulations
• Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory
• Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in a pleasant and professional manner

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent
• State Pharmacy Technician license or national pharmacy technician registration/license required
• Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician is highly preferred
• In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred
• Ability to work well in a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Strong customer service skills required
• Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks is required
• Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; Ability to focus on tasks ; Ability to evaluate operating conditions ; Ability to exercise sound judgment
• Past IV experience is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets
• Flexibility with schedule
• Vendor Credentialing may be required
