Job summary

Victory Hospice in Durant, OK seeks a PRN Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff in a hospice setting. You will collaborate with community clergy and volunteers to enhance spiritual care services and participate in ongoing care planning.

The role involves assessing spiritual needs, counseling, crisis intervention, advance directives, and bereavement support, with documentation in line with policy.

Qualifications

• Education: College degree preferred in Theology; Master of Divinity preferred or related field.
• Experience: Hospice/palliative care or healthcare setting preferred.
• License/Certification: CPR current; valid driver’s license and proof of auto liability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct spiritual assessments to understand patients' and families' spiritual and emotional needs.
• Provide counseling respectful of beliefs and values.
• Offer individual counseling, crisis intervention, advance directives information, and funeral planning support.
• Collaborate with IDT to develop, document, and update the POC for spiritual needs.
• Work with staff to resolve spiritual/pastoral/ethical issues; provide bereavement support.
• Use strong interpersonal skills to plan discharge and involve local clergy as needed.
• Complete documentation per hospice policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Assess patient/family response to care and satisfaction.
• Make visits prior to death and provide bereavement support as needed.
• Promote agency philosophy and policies to ensure quality of care.
• Collaborate with local religious organizations and volunteers to enhance support.
• Build relationships with community clergy to strengthen spiritual services.
